10 nautical miles south of Pangkor, Pulau Sembilan derived its name from a group of 9 islets, namely Pulau Agas, Pulau Payong, Pulau Nipis, Pulau Rumbia, Pulau Lalang, Pulau Saga, Pulau Buluh, Batu Puteh and Batu Hitam.
These uninhabited islands are popular among campers during weekends, in particular Pulau Lalang which has marvellous beaches and refreshing jungle streams. The waters between Pulau Lalang and Pulau Rumbia are well known for their coral rocks and a wide varitey of fishes.
The deeper waters between Pulau Saga and Pulau Buluh make a perfect diving spot with arborescent green corals. Rocks, coral rocks and coral fishes can also be seen east of Pulau Buluh. The tiny Batu Puteh, meanwhile, is another favourite among divers.
Going to Pulau Sembilan
Pulau Sembilan is accessible by fishing boat from Pangkor Laut. However, tourists are advised to make prior arrangements with a Pangkor travel agency, or a diving agency in Kuala Lumpur before making the trip.
