National Museum

Built in the style of a Malay palace with an impressive facade of two large murals depicting scenes of the country’s colourful past, the National Museum provides an interesting introduction to the history and culture of the country.

With its two giant murals on the front the National Museum is certainly an attention-getter. The exhibits include replicas, artifacts, photographs, dioramas and stuffed animals coverage ranges from history to culture, art and crafts, flora and fauna, weapons and sports. The museum also regularly holds themed exhibitions.

At the back of the National Museum, the 91.6-ha Kuala Lumpur Lake Gardens (Taman Tasik Perdana) is a vast green lung in the city centre. Amidst the undulating greens of the Lake Gardens are the National Planetarium, the Orchid and Hibiscus Gardens, the Butterfly Park, Kuala Lumpur Bird Park, the Deer Park, Tun Abdul Razak Memorial and the majestic National Monument.
