The Malaysia Institute of Islamic Understanding (IKIM) was established on 3 July 1992, by Prime Minister Dato Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohamad. The objectives of the Institute are to disperse information on Islam and to expose Malaysian and foreign communities to Islamic teachings. The institute is situated in Jalan Duta, close to the National Archives and Government Complex buildings.
