Central Market – built in 1888 was once a wet market selling fresh produce to Kuala Lumpur residents. Today, it is the place to get a taste of Malaysia culture and to shop for handicraft, souvenirs and antiques from all over the region. Visitors can watch composers and artists at work as well as take in regular cultural performances.

Central Market has also been classified as a Heritage Site by the Malaysian Heritage Society. Central Market is located along Jalan Hang Kasturi, opposite the Dayabumi Building and a few minutes walking distance from Petaling Street.
